A few of our most recent and note-worthy awards
Padrón Award
Delta College was awarded Campus Compact’s Eduardo J. Padrón Award for Institutional
Transformation in 2024. The award recognizes community colleges that have successfully
implemented institution-wide efforts by aligning teaching, research, practice and
values in service of the common good.
Delta College was recognized for its commitment to civic and community engagement.
Its mission to empower communities is further bolstered by President Michael Gavin,
who is working to embed community-engaged approaches holistically across the college
through innovative partnerships. Under Gavin’s leadership, Delta College has emerged
as a national leader in the field of higher education civic and community engagement
through the founding and stewardship of the group Education for All, a discussion
group for presidents, chancellors and association leaders who are committed to improving
our communities.
MCAN Endurance Award
In recognition of its dedication to expanding access to higher education and supporting
student equity, retention and completion, Delta College was presented with the Endurance Award by the Michigan College Access Network (MCAN) in November of 2024.
Delta College was selected for this award based on its continuous efforts to support
student success and in its work to support Michigan’s Sixty by 30 initiative, which aims to increase the percentage of Michigan residents with a degree
or postsecondary credential to 60% by 2030.
MCAN established the Endurance Award to recognize institutions or individual institution
leaders who drive innovative solutions in college access and student success. Delta
College embodies this commitment, making substantial strides in helping more Michigan
students enter and complete their education.
Achieving the Dream Leader College
Delta College earned Leader College distinction by Achieving the Dream, a national

and closing achievement gaps. With this recognition, Delta College has shown how data
can inform policy and practice to help students achieve their goals, resulting in
improved skills, better employability and economic growth for families and communities.
Delta College has been part of the AtD Network since 2010.

Voter-Friendly Campus
Delta College is designated as a Voter-Friendly Campus, earned ALL IN’s Highly Established Action Plan Seal for the 2024 election cycle and continues doing its part to empower students in making

Commitment at Delta College. “Delta’s designation as a voter-friendly campus shows
that we are doing our part to ensure the interests and voices of community college
students are raised in the political process.”
