Our colors are two shades of green

With that, we like to think Delta's founders had a plan from the start in providing a philosophy that has grown into a way of life.

Our approach to sustainability includes local and national partnerships that help to set the foundation of our sustainability focus. Together, we create opportunities where we can make a difference through academics, community engagement, operations and planning and administration. Our green campus is about more than just the environment. It's a place where people learn to create resilient communities where everyone thrives!

Our campuses are designed to support learning-centered communities where our partners can get hands-on experience when it comes to sustainability. These are just highlights of some things we have been working on! Contact us at sustainability@delta.edu to schedule a tour or presentation for any of our campuses.

Our campus initiatives continue to set the standard in higher education. Delta College has been recognized as the 6th top performing community college for sustainability in the USA! We earned a silver rating in the 2020 Sustainable Campus Index, which highlights the most sustainable colleges and universities in 17 impact areas and overall by institution type.

Green academics

Preparing our graduates to make a difference in the way we live and work is important. So is being mindful of the interconnectedness of people, profit and the planet.

What's our goal? To give each of our students an education that:
  • Ensures that our students understand ecological processes and how our choices affect the environment
  • Develops student understanding of social justice and equity, encouraging involvement at the local level while considering the global population
  • Teaches students that business can be designed to be profitable without the expense of the ecosystem, local or world communities.
  •

Student leadership

When our students decide to start leading sustainability efforts, we know we're doing something right!

Green clubs and organizations

Our students are leaders in educating our campus on waste reduction and the value that recycling brings to our environment.

Sustainability reps

At Delta, our students get it. They get that sustainability matters, and everyone has a role when it comes to being green. Sustainability representatives can be seen around campus educating their peers on how they too can be energy stewards on campus and in their communities.

Sustainability reps are Delta's ambassadors for:

  • Campus energy conservation
  • Reduce. Reuse. Recycle.
  • Sustainability travel abroad programs
  • Bus transportation
  • Water refill station awareness

Passionate about being "green?" Get involved!
